1.11 Memories Part 6

“You knew about that didn’t you,” says Legacy accusingly.

“How could I not?” replies Ceta, “David and I fought you and Atavari on many occasions.”

“And you didn’t warn me that I was once a supervillain?” grumbles Legacy before moving onto a slightly different topic, “What was I like? Back then, when I was Shattered Hope?”

“A good person at your core, but was manipulated into doing bad things,” answers Ceta, “Atavari had good intentions, but believed that the ends justified the means. She tricked you into believing that your actions would save the world and bring peace. What you weren’t told was that that peace would be brought about by uniting the world against you and she was going to sacrifice you at the end, both literally and metaphorically. She would claim that she is a good being that was corrupted by you and now you were gone, she and her new host would be grand heroes. And by then, Atavari would have killed you so you would be unable to contradict her lies. But when she did so, David was dying and he convinced me to take you on as the next Guardian. I gladly obliged him.”

“Thank you for doing so,” says Legacy.

“There is no need to thank me,” replies Ceta, “Helping others and saving lives is what the Guardian is. And you have yet to disappoint me as the Guardian.”

“I am glad to hear that,” replies Legacy, “So what happened?”

“Oblivion attacked your world and at the end of the battle, David was killed, you become the new Guardian and Atavari fled to pick her new host,” says Ceta with anger in her voice, “I despise Atavari. She is a monster in the guise of a hero. She claims to help others, but does so by destroying innocent lives. Atavari is a coward and lacks honour.”

“So what happened to her?” inquires Legacy.

“Since we ended up on the Earth we have been residing in, Atavari probably just continued with her plans uncontested,” snarls Ceta, “Claiming credit for your sacrifice and dishonouring your memory for her own glory.”

“Is there anything we can do about it?” asks Legacy.

“Unfortunately no,” replies Ceta, “I do not currently know the way back to that Earth and if we do, exposing her would cause much chaos and harm. I would leave such a choice up to you.”

“I would need to evaluate the situation in person before making such a decision,” states Legacy, “So what now?”

“Would you like to know what powers David had as the Guardian?” asks Ceta.

“Yes I would,” replies Legacy.

“He had an innate talent for technology, both using it and coming up with his own creations,” replies Ceta, “Additionally, he wasn’t limited to more advanced technologies as you are. So while he lacked your technopathy, David was very versatile in what he used and his strategies.”

“I wish I got to meet him,” says Legacy wistfully.

“You did,” replies Ceta, “His fairness, compression and good-nature made him your favourite superhero. On the flipside, his skill, ingenuity and initiative made him your least favourite foe to fight. Especially since you always held back due to feeling bad if you hurt him.”

“Really?” inquires Legacy.

“Yes,” replies Ceta kindly, “The feeling was mutual. David never enjoyed fighting you and never when as hard on you as he could have done. He would always try and convince you to become a superhero rather than a supervillain and that Atavari was manipulating you and would betray you. But Atavari’s grip was too strong on you and she convinced you that David meant well, but simply didn’t understand what you and her were trying to do.”

“So how much long until I can return to the real world?” asks Legacy, “I am missing my friends and teammates.”

“I understand,” replies Ceta, “I haven’t seen many of my own in decades. I’m not sure how many are still alive or-hmm, now that is interesting.”

“What is?” asks Legacy curiously.

“It appears we have guest,” explains Ceta, “Shall I invite Jaylyn in?”

“Definitely,” says Legacy excitedly, “I can’t wait to see her again.”

Ceta is silent for a moment and a young girl materialises next to her.

The girl appears to only be six years old with sleek blonde hair and shining blue eyes. Her features are mixture of both Leo’s and Joan’s.

An interesting avatar, but not unsurprising. It shows an accurate representation of Jaylyn, unlike others who would try to hide who they are. But Jaylyn has always been proud of who is and has never tried to hide who is from those that know of her.

“Hello Jaylyn,” says Legacy as Jaylyn runs towards her.

“Aunt Legacy,” cries Jaylyn as she wraps her arms around Legacy, “You’ve been gone for months!”

“I know,” replies Legacy as she notes that hug lacks the warmth of a physical hug, “I missed you too.”

“Father has been searching for you,” says Jaylyn, “Ever since you fell in battle against Armageddon. He has never stopped.”

“I would expect nothing less from a person such as him,” replies Legacy, “So how did he find me?”

“Oh, he detected a trace signal of unknown origin and composition when I got Ceta’s message,” replies Jaylyn, “He also detected from when you died. Father then when to the sample and checked your nanites for the signal. When he found it, Father has been trying to trace it back to the source. Once he found it yesterday, we sent part of me in to see what was waiting in the other side.”

“It is a very impressive feat to be able to trace the signal back here,” says Ceta, “Is Leo doing anything else?”

“Oh, he is modifying one of Koizumi’s inventions to be able the follow the signal in person,” replies Jaylyn.

“Koizumi?” inquires Legacy.

“I should tell you about him shouldn’t I?” answers Jaylyn as she lets go of Legacy.

1.11 Memories Part 5

“Did he survive?” asks Legacy eagerly as the memory ends as Green Delta loses consciousness.

“He did as Junit kept him alive with her telekinesis, but Green Delta had to be rebuilt with extensive cybernetics to fully recover,” answers Ceta, “With the death of their emperor, the Fayyick Empire soon splinted as the opposing Fayyick Lords battled one another for leadership of its remnants. Within five years, the Alliance had regained control of the galaxy with only Antorian remnants on the fringes.”

“So what happened to Junit and Green Delta?” inquires Legacy.

“That is one of the things I wanted to show you,” replies Ceta, “Guardians don’t always end their lives by falling in battle and many have retired to live out happy lives. Junit and Green Delta are a good example of that. They got married, settled down with another adventure every now. Junit opened an academy for telekinetics and telepaths while Green Delta trained new Mindorrians. They even had two kids, Borrmin and Surrasarr, who became grand and mighty heroes in their own right.”

“It is good to hear that I can have a happy ending,” says Legacy.

“But Green Delta and Junit each suffered their own costs,” continues Ceta, “Not only was Green Delta turned into a cyborg, but Junit lost her voice in battle against the Fayyick Emperor. They never suffered any other injuries of that extent as when they faced another foe as deadly as the Fayyick Emperor, Green Delta and Junit were much more skilled and dangerous.”

“So a happy ending is not without cost,” notes Legacy.

“A Guardian must earn a happy ending must be earned through hardship,” corrects Ceta, “And those hardships may cost you.”

***

“Ceta,” asks Legacy, “Are there memories showing me from before I became the Guardian?”

To Legacy, it feels like years have passed since she arrived in Ceta’s world. Ceta tells her that is because perception happens faster here and claims only two months have passed in the real world.

She also says not to worry about experiencing years in here because I haven’t experienced actual years in the real world.

“Yes, but I should warn you that you might not like what you find in them,” replies Ceta.

“I would still like to find see them,” answers Legacy.

“As you wish,” replies Ceta, “I shall find the most useful memories. Just remember my warning.”

“Thank you Ceta,” says Legacy, “And I shall heed your words.”

***

David Knight draws Gord’Ang as a blue energy beam hits the street behind him. The man is in his late fifties and starting to look it with his dark brown hair now mostly grey.

Not that anyone can see it beneath his power armour consisting of overlapping plates, the inner ones being black with the outer ones a shade of dark green.

Ceta!

Shattered Hope is making another push at us.

The girl relies too much on raw power.

I agree, but don’t forget she has a lot of raw power. More than almost anyone else on this planet.

Yeah, only you or the Demon are stronger than Hope.

The vast majority of people shorten her name to Shatter or Shattered, but you call her Hope. Why?

You know why. You know her background as well as I does if not better.

True.

“Come on Guardian,” sings a female voice as Guardian turns cloaks himself, making him invisible, “Face me!”

A teenage girl wearing a tight fitting blue and white costume with a bright blue energy field around her body comes flying around the corner of the street. Her long hair flying behind her head and both her hair and her eyes are glowing white while a blue domino masks conceals her face.

Dammit girl. You could have done great thing if you hadn’t chosen this path. Heck, you can still do great things if you just turn back from this path.

Atavari’s hold is too strong on her and Charity believes her lies.

To be fair, they aren’t lies, but half-truths.

Half-truths are still half-lies and these ones leave out the most important half of the truth!

Oh I know, just another reason to hate Atavari for.

We shall bring about her downfall.

David dashes to the side of the street and jumps off the side of a building at Shattered Hope. He tackles her from the back in midair and they both go tumbling to the ground. As they hit the ground, David slams his fist into Shattered Hope’s face.
Shattered Hope coughs as David jumps away.

“I hate fighting you,” hisses Shattered Hope as she gets to her feet, “And not just because you are such a nice person.”

“The feeling is mutual,” replies David.

She has such potential.

That is the reason why Atavari corrupted her.

Shattered Hope sends a large blast of energy down the street, but David jumps into the air as he cloaks himself again.

“Just let me hit you for once!” shouts Shattered Hope in frustration.

“Sorry kid, but I can’t let that happen,” replies David as he ground pounds Shattered Hope into the road.

Shattered Hope groans before slumping in defeat. Her hair goes back to normal including returning to a shade of black while her eyes become blue. The energy field surrounding her disappeared and her costume, including her mask, fades away, leaving in civilian clothing.

The memory ends abruptly as Legacy recoils in shock.

That was me. I was Shattered Hope. I was a supervillain.

1.11 Memories Part 4

“This next one isn’t a memory from a past Guardian,” Ceta tells Legacy, “But one that Green Delta added to my archives. I feel it shows the end of the battle better than Junit’s memories given the fact he played a greater role in it than she did.”

“It should be interesting to watch then,” replies Legacy.

***

As the Fayyick Emperor, a blue skin humanoid with purple hair wearing black robes, takes aim at the fallen Junit, Green Delta opens fire from the doorway of the throne room with both of his wrist-mounted gatling guns.

I got back from my mission early just to find that my love had gone to attack on one of the dangerous people in the galaxy without me. Fortunately I still had that old teleportation cell that Reuben gave me still lying around.

The Fayyick Emperor throws up a telekinetic shield to protect himself and Green Delta charges forward with a blue-bladed energy sabre in each hand.

As the Fayyick Emperor takes aim at him, a crude, ugly android made of mismatching parts takes aim with the Antorian energy blaster it has for its right hand. Fayyick Emperor is forced to dodge the pink bolts as Green Delta closes the distance between them.

Good old GD-G2. Built him out of scrap and gifts over two and half centuries ago and he is a competent and loyal teammate. I can count on him to get Junit to safety.

Green Delta slashes at the Emperor with both energy sabres, but his foe blocks with his own red-bladed one. The Fayyick Emperor blasts Green Delta with a telekinetic strike.

He staggers, but flies forward using the thrusters built into the back of his armour as the Emperor charges him. Catching his opponent off guard, Green Delta both dodges his enemy’s strike and nicks the Emperor’s arm with one of his own.

Green Delta spins around to face the Fayyick Emperor as he passes his foe, but the Emperor leaps backwards into the air.

As Green Delta hears footsteps in the doorway, both he and the Fayyick Emperor turn in its direction.
Green Alpha and Green Bravo are running down it, ready to aid their fellow member of Green Team.

While Green Charlie, Echo and Gamma are all dead, Green Alpha and Green Bravo had their minds uploaded into their armours and then had their armours turned into robots. A feature only available to members of their team who still have intact armour, something that the other three fallen teammates didn’t have when they died.

While his brother and sister might not be flesh and blood anymore, Green Delta is still glad to have them around, especially since he believed them dead when he joined the Alliance.

The Fayyick Emperor acts quickly by slamming Green Alpha into the wall with telekinetic force whilst shooting at Green Bravo with his stolen gun. Green Delta also moves quickly, rushing the Fayyick Emperor.

The Emperor only gets off one shot before Green Delta hacks his gun hand off with an energy sabre. The shot hits Green Bravo’s sniper rifle and she tosses the broken weapon aside as she runs forward to aid Green Delta.

The Fayyick Emperor swings his energy sabre at Green Delta, who steps back to avoid it. Green Bravo reaches the fight and forces the Emperor back as he is forced to contend with two dangerous opponents. The two soldiers circle him as Delta tosses Bravo one of his energy sabres.

Realising the odds aren’t in his favour, the Fayyick Emperor rips up the floor around Green Delta and Green Bravo with his telekinesis, staggering both of them as they regain their footing.

Green Delta looks up to see the Fayyick Emperor cutting off Bravo’s arm.

“No!” cries Green Delta as he swings his armoured fist into the Fayyick Emperor’s head as he hacks Bravo in two.

Green Delta grabs Bravo’s upper half and tosses it as far away as he can.

“Behind you!” yells Green Alpha and Green Delta rolls forward.

He gets to his feet as the energy sabre of the Emperor swishes through the space he previous occupied.

Frustrated, the Fayyick Emperor using his telekinesis to collapse the ceiling and walls around Green Alpha in on him.

“You will not take my family from me!” shouts Green Delta as he opens fire at the Emperor with his gatling guns.

The Fayyick Emperor throws up a telekinetic shield and tosses both wrecked doors from the doorway at Green Delta. He sidesteps one and cuts the other in half with his energy sabre.

Green Delta turns to see a red energy blade coming straight at his head. He leans back to avoid it and the blade skims his visor. The Emperor swings the blade back around to take Green Delta out, but a sniper bullet shots it out of his head.

Both Green Delta and the Fayyick Emperor turn to face the origin of the shot. Green Alpha is trapped under rumble with his only one arm free, but is wielding Green Bravo’s damaged and scopeless sniper rifle.

With a roar of anger, the Fayyick Emperor yanks Green Alpha’s head off with telekinesis.

“We’re not done yet!” roars Green Delta as he slams his fist into the Emperor’s fist.

The Fayyick Emperor stumbles backwards, his face bloodied and broken as Green Delta swings his energy sabre at him. But his foe rips the blade from his hand with telekinesis into his own hand.

Green Delta jumps backwards as the Emperor wildly slashes at him. The strike slices one of his wrist-mounted gatling guns into half.

“Commander!” yells GD-G2 as he tosses Green Delta the Linx Sword gifted to him from Del Reuben Onta, the greatest of the New Knights of Deltae.

Green Delta catches Gerdela out of midair and blocks the blue blade of the stolen energy sabre. He follows it up with an attack of his own, cutting the left arm of the Fayyick Emperor off.

Howling in pain, the Fayyick Emperor makes one last feeble attack at Green Delta, but it only grazes his chest armour plate. Green Delta casually cuts off the Emperor’s remaining hand before firing his last gatling gun at his foe.

But with one last defiant action as life leaves his body, the Fayyick Emperor lashes out with his telekinesis, crushing Green Delta’s body and power armour.

1.11 Memories Part 3

As she approaches the hangar with the half a dozen Mindorrians of Ter Tris, Junit hears fighting from within as the Fayyicks engage an unknown enemy.

Perhaps the Fays opened the dropship and the Alliance soldiers within are defending the Green Delta super weapon. I would expect nothing less from those that serve the Alliance.

“Get this door open,” orders Junit as she draws Gord’Ang.

One of the Mindorrians rushes to get the bulkhead open as Junit reaches out with her telepathy.

She can sense eight minds within the hangar and a ninth that is shielded from her.

Interesting.

As the doors into the hangar slide apart, Junit rushes in, ready for battle.

But the fight is already won as a person in an enclosed set of bright green power armour hacks apart the last three Fayyick soldiers. The soldier’s visor is light blue while blade of the energy sabre in his hand is a deep blue.

Four Alliance soldiers in outdated basic armour are holding defensive positions around the dropship as their comrade takes out the Fayyicks. Junit notes that armour is used by recruits who are still in their training, but hasn’t been used in over a century.

The person in the green armour spins around and fires at the last Fayyick soldier using miniature gatling guns built into the wrists of his armour.

This warrior is impressive. Not only is he shielded from telepathy, but it appears he has cleared a room of Fayyick warriors with only four recruits in antique gear as back up.

“Greetings,” says Junit as the armoured warrior sheathes his energy sabre and the Ordicmin sheathes Gord’Ang, “I am Junit Dorr, Ordicmin of the Alliance.”

“I am Green Delta,” replies the warrior, “Mind telling me what is going on here?”

So the Green Delta isn’t a super weapon, but rather a mighty warrior then. Interesting.

“The Fayyicks retrieved your dropship,” replies Junit, “They were looking for you, believing that you were an ancient super weapon.”

“Ancient?” inquires Green Delta, confused.

“You and your squad have been in stasis for over a hundred years,” explains Junit, “The year is 2246-2 Alliance Standard.”

“Then it has been two hundred and sixty four years since I was last awake,” says Green Delta as he glances over at the four recruits by the dropship, “What is going on then? What on Kantos is the Fayyick Empire? They didn’t exist in my time.”

“The Fayyick cult formed two centuries ago and has ruled for one and half,” answers Junit, “They are tyrannical and abusive rulers and the Alliance will stop them. At the moment, we have been able to draw in forces from different galaxies and are finally overwhelming the Fayyicks.”

“Good,” replies Green Delta, “I do like a good fight against the bad guys.”

***
“Green Delta played a key part in Deltaen history,” says Ceta, “Especially for a non-Deltaen. He befriended two of the greatest Knights of Deltae, fought off an Antorian invasion of his homeworld, was one of two people that brought about the destruction of the First Fayyick Empire and inspired and led many others to greatness. Those around him would go on to do grand things such as his brothers and sisters, his children, his squadmates and his creations.”

“His creations?” inquires Legacy.

“Green Delta was a bit of an inventor and good with technology,” replies Ceta, “Very resourceful. His creations were unorthodox and often made on a whim, but they were always impressive and effective. I would be surprised if GD-G2 wasn’t still around somewhere in the Multiverse.”

“GD-G2?” asks Legacy.

“Someone I would like you to meet if we have the chance,” says Ceta, “Someone I would like every Guardian to meet if only that was possible.”

***

Junit slams the Fayyick warrior into the door with a telekinetic blast. She pins her there before stabbing through her chest with Gord’Ang.

It has been nine years since I gained the mantle of Ordicmin and five since I met Green Delta. With such a bold, capable and charismatic character, he has quickly become a legendary icon for the Alliance and the rest of the galaxy just as he was one on his homeworld. Even I have fallen for him.

And for those reasons I have had to leave him behind for this so very important mission. We cannot afford to lose him. He is simply too important. If we lose this mission, we won’t lose the war. If I die in this mission, we won’t lose the war. But if Green Delta dies during this mission, we could very well lose the war and I won’t allow it. We fought too long and hard for the last decades to allow that. Especially after so many have fallen for our cause.

“Somebody blow this door open,” orders Junit to the twenty Mindorrians around her.

A couple of them rush forward and plant explosive charges on the thick armoured door. Junit shields herself and her soldiers with her telekinesis as the explosion blows the door apart and away.

Junit strides into the room where the Fayyick Emperor sits on his throne. This coward is the only Fayyick that can hope to match her and is a mighty warrior in his own right.

Strong enough to slay my older brother.

Junit feels anger rising within has she notes the chest plates of her brother’s power armour on the monster before her. Not only that, but he has replaced the hand that Junit’s brother took from him with the Deltaen laser carbine that was gifted to him from their mother.

“Cor donn hor!” cries Junit as she charges the Fayyick Emperor.

1.11 Memories Part 2

“Cor donn hor!” cries Junit as she charges the Fayyick as the Alliance soldiers take cover.

As the enemy soldiers open fire, Junit sends a telekinetic wave out in front of her. It disrupts the lasers as they come at her, but the enemy telekinetic blocks it with his own powers as it reach him and the soldiers.

“You cannot best me!” snarls the man as he steps forward to battle Junit, “I will destroy you.”

He blocks Junit’s first strike and she steps back. She slashes at his upper chest and he blocks with his energy sabre, but Junit brings her sword down and cuts his lower left leg open.

“Aaghhh!” cries the man as Junit steps to the side.

She slashes again before stabbing as the man attempts to blocks her blade. Gord’Ang jabs into his stomach and he staggers backwards as Junit pulls her sword out.

Angered, the Fayyick yells and swings at Junit. The half-Deltaen simply sidesteps and slashes his side open.

Realising he isn’t going to win this fight, the Fayyick warrior leaps backwards into the air, aiming to land behind his soldiers.

But Junit doesn’t give him the chance to escape as she brings the ceiling down over him with her telekinesis. The Fayyick doesn’t stand a chance at dodging and comes crashing down with the wreckage amongst his soldiers.

As they scatter, Junit jumps and ground pounds in the middle of them, sending out a telekinetic blast as she lands. As the soldiers are knocked off their feet with the ones closest to Junit going flying, the Alliance soldiers open fire.

Junit cuts down the two soldiers closest to her before stabbing the downed Fayyick warrior in the head.

***

“She is a mighty warrior,” notes Legacy as Junit eliminates the remaining soldiers with the aid of her own soldiers.

“Aye, Junit was one of the finest and most successful,” agrees Ceta, “She was also the first since the Antorian Wars to retire from being the Guardian, a title she passed onto Surrasarr, her firstborn child.”

“You can retire from this life?” inquires Legacy.

“Yes, I do not force people to be the Guardian,” replies Ceta.

“So what would have happened if I had chosen peace over battle,” asks Legacy, “Would you have simply let me die my death?”

“No,” answers Ceta, “I would have let you let here in my domain for a while whilst I sought out a new Guardian. When you wished to leave, I would have found you a peaceful world to live out your life on.”

“I don’t think I could have done that,” says Legacy, “Being the Guardian is all I know.”

“I know,” agrees Ceta solemnly.

***

Junit pulls Gord’Ang out of the ship’s captain as the rest of her soldiers secure the command centre of warship.

The Alliance soldiers impress Legacy as despite storming a hostile vessel with over two thousand enemy soldiers onboard, they have only lost one of their number.

Those soldiers are the Mindorrians, Alliance Special Operations Commandos and elite warriors of Junit. They are some of the best warriors I know, on par with Sangorra and Norgardians. I wonder how many Mindorrians are still around?

Sangorra and Norgardians?

I shall tell you about them a different time.

“So what is a Fayyick battlecruiser doing all the way out here?” demands Junit as she sheathes Gord’Ang.

“Not sure Ordicmin,” replies one of her soldiers, “I shall endeavour to find out.”

“I would like that,” says Junit softly with a nod to the Mindorrian, “What about the rest of the ship?”

“Ters Seg and Tris have the majority of the ship clears,” reports another Mindorrian, “Ter Tris says they have found an Alliance dropship in one of the hangars. Outdated for at least a century and all of its occupants in stasis. They have yet to take secure the hangar as the Fays are putting up strong resistance in the sections of the ship surrounding it.”

“Interesting,” says Junit, “Can somebody find out more about this dropship please? Such as how the Fayyicks uncovered it and what it was doing?”

“On it Ordicmin,” replies a Mindorrian at a computer console, “Found it. The ship was found abandoned in space. It appears to have suffered an engine malfunction. As for how the Fays found it, they came to it when following coordinates to an ancient super weapon. Instead of the weapon, they found the dropship. From what it says here, the Fayyick in charge believes that the dropship was transporting the super weapon when it suffered the damage to its engine.”

“What is this super weapon?” asks Junit.

“Unknown,” replies the Mindorrian, “The Fays found the coordinates to super weapon in an old Alliance databank from before the formation of the Fayyick Empire. The databank has no data on what the weapon does, but calls it the Green Delta and mentions that it was used by Del Reuben Onta and Del Ethan Seg to save Kantos from the Antorian invasion. It appears it was part of a series of weapons. A second generation one as well, refined from one that was used to crush a local infestation of infectious Changed.”

“It must be a powerful weapon to be used to repel an Antor attack force,” says Junit, “I’m going down to the hangar in question. We cannot allow the Fayyicks to obtain this weapon. And we might be able to use it ourselves if Knights of Deltae were able to.”

“Cor donn Hor Ordicmin,” say all five Mindorrians as Junit leaves the command centre.

1.11 Memories Part 1

Legacy blinks as she looks around her.

She is in a utilitarian room made of a sleek, smooth white solid with glowing blue lines running through it. There are basic equipment such as a sink, bed, chair, table and several storage compartments, but otherwise the room is very clean and bare.

“Hello,” says Legacy as notes that she is wearing her power armour, fully intact and working at peak ability.

Strange. One moment I fighting and dying against Armageddon, the next Ceta was giving me a choice that really didn’t make any sense and now I am here.

Legacy walks over to the chair and table and inspects them. Both are made of the same stuff as the room and everything else in it.

“Legacy of Guardian,” says a voice from behind her that Legacy recognises instantly.

“Ceta?” inquires Legacy as she turns around.

Standing before Legacy is a woman in sleek green power armour with a blue visor.

“Welcome to my Curpinin,” says Ceta, “I hope you like it here.”

“Where am I?” asks Legacy

“Your conscious is in a transdimensional plane that runs parallel to the universes of the Multiverse and the void between them,” replies Ceta, “It is commonly refer to by organic users as cyberspace.

“Oh,” says Legacy, “So what happened?”

“Your physical form was destroyed by Armageddon,” answers Ceta, “I gave you the choice of continuing as the Guardian and you accepted it. As of such, I am constructing a new body for you and you are waiting here until that time.”

So I’m dead? Without actually dying? No, that doesn’t make sense. From what Ceta is saying, I died, but I’m only dead temporarily.

“In case you are wondering, I have informed Jaylyn of what has happened and she has passed it on to the rest of the Guardsmen,” says Ceta, “They are currently awaiting your return as they continue with their lives and duties.”

“Oh,” mutters Legacy.

“You may live normally here,” says Ceta, “I can provide you with food, drink and entertainment in addition to training and the equipment and resources to make new creations. You may also review the memories of past Guardians.”

“I would like to do that last one,” Legacy tells Ceta, deciding that it would be a good idea to know about her past.

“I thought you would,” replies Ceta and Legacy is sure that she is smiling beneath her helmet.

***

Junit is a most impressive woman in Legacy’s eyes and she is sure that the ancient war hero would easily be mistaken for a Bellator back on Earth.

Her hair is short, the brown hair only going down to the bottom of her head. Her soft brown eyes easily conceal the harden warrior beneath them.

She wears Uniak leather armour, a material that is both lightweight and highly resistant to suffering damage.

This Guardian is one of the older ones and, like Legacy, is a Human-Deltaen hybrid. She also lacks a life outside of her duties like Legacy. In fact, Junit is like Legacy in a lot of ways.

Junit is also a powerful telekinetic and telepath, those abilities inherited from few Deltaen ones.

She doesn’t have my technopathy however. Not that she needs it anymore than I need her abilities.

In the memories Legacy is currently reviewing, Junit has only been the Guardian for a few years and is currently seeking to liberate a galaxy that has been overrun by an interstellar empire known as the Fayyick Empire.

The ruling caste of the empire is the titular Fayyicks, telekinetics and telepaths. None can match Junit however, not without resorting to unnatural enhancements.

Rallying the remaining Alliance forces in this galaxy, Junit is leading the war effort against the Fayyicks from the frontlines.

***

“This way!” yells Junit as she slashes another red-eyed android in the black and grey armour of the Fayyick armour with Gord’Ang.

Half a dozen Alliance soldiers in green power armour follow her out of the boarding pod as she storms the enemy defensive positions.

Red lasers flash from the Fayyick defenders as blue lasers are unleashed by the Alliance attackers.
Junit throws up a telekinetic shield around her and her soldiers instinctively, her psionic power disrupting the lasers as their energy is dispersed.

She leaps into the air and sends a telekinetic strike at group of four enemy soldiers. Three are knocked off their feet while the fourth’s body is crushed by a direct hit, killing him instantly.

Junit comes crashing down in their midst. She takes out two before they can get to their feet whilst hacking the final one down before he get a shot off.

She turns to face the last two, but her soldiers have dealt with them. One is dead while the other is slumped against the wall, dying from multiple hits. His armour protected the soldier enough to stop him from dying, but didn’t do its job well enough to ensure his survival.

Rather than let him suffer, Junit finishes him off quickly.

As her squad reaches her, the doors open. Junit moves swiftly, swinging her sword at the closest enemy soldier whilst sending a telekinetic blast at the other.

Gord’Ang hacks through the gun and chest of the man while the other hostile is taken down by the squad of Alliance soldiers before Fayyick soldier can regain her balance.

“Ordicmin,” hiss a voice and Junit turns to see a humanoid with leathery grey skin in blue robes flanked by twenty Fayyick soldiers.

The Fayyick warrior activates the item in his hand and a red energy blade flashes into existence from the hilt of his energy sabre.
