1.11 Memories Part 2

“Cor donn hor!” cries Junit as she charges the Fayyick as the Alliance soldiers take cover.

As the enemy soldiers open fire, Junit sends a telekinetic wave out in front of her. It disrupts the lasers as they come at her, but the enemy telekinetic blocks it with his own powers as it reach him and the soldiers.

“You cannot best me!” snarls the man as he steps forward to battle Junit, “I will destroy you.”

He blocks Junit’s first strike and she steps back. She slashes at his upper chest and he blocks with his energy sabre, but Junit brings her sword down and cuts his lower left leg open.

“Aaghhh!” cries the man as Junit steps to the side.

She slashes again before stabbing as the man attempts to blocks her blade. Gord’Ang jabs into his stomach and he staggers backwards as Junit pulls her sword out.

Angered, the Fayyick yells and swings at Junit. The half-Deltaen simply sidesteps and slashes his side open.

Realising he isn’t going to win this fight, the Fayyick warrior leaps backwards into the air, aiming to land behind his soldiers.

But Junit doesn’t give him the chance to escape as she brings the ceiling down over him with her telekinesis. The Fayyick doesn’t stand a chance at dodging and comes crashing down with the wreckage amongst his soldiers.

As they scatter, Junit jumps and ground pounds in the middle of them, sending out a telekinetic blast as she lands. As the soldiers are knocked off their feet with the ones closest to Junit going flying, the Alliance soldiers open fire.

Junit cuts down the two soldiers closest to her before stabbing the downed Fayyick warrior in the head.

“She is a mighty warrior,” notes Legacy as Junit eliminates the remaining soldiers with the aid of her own soldiers.

“Aye, Junit was one of the finest and most successful,” agrees Ceta, “She was also the first since the Antorian Wars to retire from being the Guardian, a title she passed onto Surrasarr, her firstborn child.”

“You can retire from this life?” inquires Legacy.

“Yes, I do not force people to be the Guardian,” replies Ceta.

“So what would have happened if I had chosen peace over battle,” asks Legacy, “Would you have simply let me die my death?”

“No,” answers Ceta, “I would have let you let here in my domain for a while whilst I sought out a new Guardian. When you wished to leave, I would have found you a peaceful world to live out your life on.”

“I don’t think I could have done that,” says Legacy, “Being the Guardian is all I know.”

“I know,” agrees Ceta solemnly.

Junit pulls Gord’Ang out of the ship’s captain as the rest of her soldiers secure the command centre of warship.

The Alliance soldiers impress Legacy as despite storming a hostile vessel with over two thousand enemy soldiers onboard, they have only lost one of their number.

Those soldiers are the Mindorrians, Alliance Special Operations Commandos and elite warriors of Junit. They are some of the best warriors I know, on par with Sangorra and Norgardians. I wonder how many Mindorrians are still around?

Sangorra and Norgardians?

I shall tell you about them a different time.

“So what is a Fayyick battlecruiser doing all the way out here?” demands Junit as she sheathes Gord’Ang.

“Not sure Ordicmin,” replies one of her soldiers, “I shall endeavour to find out.”

“I would like that,” says Junit softly with a nod to the Mindorrian, “What about the rest of the ship?”

“Ters Seg and Tris have the majority of the ship clears,” reports another Mindorrian, “Ter Tris says they have found an Alliance dropship in one of the hangars. Outdated for at least a century and all of its occupants in stasis. They have yet to take secure the hangar as the Fays are putting up strong resistance in the sections of the ship surrounding it.”

“Interesting,” says Junit, “Can somebody find out more about this dropship please? Such as how the Fayyicks uncovered it and what it was doing?”

“On it Ordicmin,” replies a Mindorrian at a computer console, “Found it. The ship was found abandoned in space. It appears to have suffered an engine malfunction. As for how the Fays found it, they came to it when following coordinates to an ancient super weapon. Instead of the weapon, they found the dropship. From what it says here, the Fayyick in charge believes that the dropship was transporting the super weapon when it suffered the damage to its engine.”

“What is this super weapon?” asks Junit.

“Unknown,” replies the Mindorrian, “The Fays found the coordinates to super weapon in an old Alliance databank from before the formation of the Fayyick Empire. The databank has no data on what the weapon does, but calls it the Green Delta and mentions that it was used by Del Reuben Onta and Del Ethan Seg to save Kantos from the Antorian invasion. It appears it was part of a series of weapons. A second generation one as well, refined from one that was used to crush a local infestation of infectious Changed.”

“It must be a powerful weapon to be used to repel an Antor attack force,” says Junit, “I’m going down to the hangar in question. We cannot allow the Fayyicks to obtain this weapon. And we might be able to use it ourselves if Knights of Deltae were able to.”

“Cor donn Hor Ordicmin,” say all five Mindorrians as Junit leaves the command centre.

  1. So not much to say about this segment that wasn't mentioned in the previous segment's comment.

I suppose I should mention that Guardians do retire, but due to the nature of those that become the Guardian, they rarely do so. Junit was an exception because she won her wars, found a loving husband, settled down and had a family, passed on her knowledge to the next generation and had a worthy and willing heir to pass on the mantle of being the Guardian.

Meanwhile, for reasons that will be revealed later in this chapter, in Legacy's case, being the Guardian is a key part of who she is. Giving it up for her would be like giving up your ability to see, hear and walk all at once in addition to losing all knowledge of any languages and maths you know. It would cripple you and while you could get better, it would cripple you.

So next time, Junit's story continues.
