Guardian jumps
over the wall, doing a flip mid-air before landing on his feet, ready for
action.
“Give it up
Destroyer,” says the man, his voice distorted and deepened by his armour, “You
can’t win this.”
Guardian’s close
fitting power armour is sleek and smooth, made up of over lapping plates, the
inner ones being black while the outer ones are a dark green.
In front of
Guardian is a large, bulky man, wearing red and white spandex that show off his
oversized muscles. His flowing black cape ripples in the wind.
“Honestly
Guardian, do you even realise how cliché you sound when you speak like that?”
replies the man in a throaty voice, “No matter, only you are in a position to
stop me and you are most certainly not stronger to do that. You don’t even have
any powers, forced to rely on those pathetic gadgets of yours.”
“The rest of the
Everlasting Night didn’t find them so pathetic,” retorts Guardian as he leaps
at Destroyer, “The rest of your companions have all been bested by me today.”
“But I am the
strongest of us,” retorts Destroyer as he swings his fist into the oncoming
Guardian, “And unlike you, I’m not afraid to kill.”
Guardian grunts
as his armour is dented by Destroyer’s punch and is sent flying into the
ground. He lands on his back, smashed into the pavement. He attempts to get up,
but Destroyer lands on him, his foot on Guardian’s chest.
“Really
Guardian?” taunts Destroyer as he sneers at the hero, “How on Earth did you
think that would even come close to even hurting me with a move like that, let
alone defeat me.”
Guardian’s
response isn’t one of words, but rather one of action as several missile
launchers pop out his armour, each containing a trio of multi-headed
micro-missiles.
“Oh you son of
a-” Destroyer begins to curse as he realises what is about to happen, only to
be cut off as the missiles all slam into him.
As Destroy blown
away by the explosion, Guardian quickly gets to his feet. As Destroyer staggers
upright, Guardian slams his fist into the supervillain’s face. Destroyer grunts
as he stumbles backwards and Guardian follows up with his other fist to villain’s
lower jaw.
Destroyer is
knocked off his feet and Guardian takes the opportunity to jab a small cylinder
device into Destroyer.
As the villain scrambles
away and gets to his feet, Guardian doesn’t bother attacking the man. He has already won this battle.
With a wild
yell, Destroyer swings a punch at Guardian, who catches mid-swing.
“What, but how?”
demands the stunned supervillain and Guardian smiles beneath his helmet.
“I hit you with
a power nullifier,” replies Guardian, “Your powers are gone for the next hour.”
“Doesn’t
matter,” snarls Destroyer, grinding his teeth, “The bomb will go off in three,
two , one.”
But the bomb
doesn’t go off. Guardian saw to that a couple of weeks ago, just as the Everlasting
Night was finishing building it. But Destroyer doesn’t know that and Guardian
sees no reason to inform him of that little fact.
Guardian
head-butts the would-be mass murderer and Destroyer’s head slumps back, the
villain now unconscious.

Legacy sits
upright in her bed.
Was that a dream? It felt so real. Too real for just a
dream.
You seem to be
finally gaining access to the memories of the past Guardians.
Cool.
Okay, this is a short story I wrote at the request of a friend and have since modified to fit into Legacy. I could have fitted it in a any point, but here seemed like a good one. If I'm honest, this has nothing to do with the story since it was written as a short stand alone and I couldn't have just not included here. But I had already written it so I figured I might as well post it here.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is just for readers to enjoy. No plot here or anything. Just Legacy reliving a memory of a previous Guardian in her dreams. I will do the next part of the actual story later today.
